Donating to fund libraries

Write to Read BC installs libraries in isolated communities across BC. But each library can cost $30,000 to $50,000 depending on how isolated the community is in which it is installed. And since geography and community needs affect the design, these factors obviously also affect the cost. Fortunately, we make donating to fund libraries easy.

We accept donations in kind: building materials, books, and computers are generally welcome. Also, we need funds for transportation, installation, furniture and equipment, sustainability, and communications. Communication costs could include monthly Internet- and fibre-optic fees that let community members remotely attend online courses and conferences from a library learning centre.

Every dollar goes towards expanding the scope of the project; dozens of other First Nation communities have requested our assistance.

Our Write to Read BC partner, the Rotary Club, accepts donations by e‑Transfer, so donating that way is easy.

1. Firstly, from your online bank account, send your e‑transfer donation to the Society, using this email address:

2. No password is needed. The Rotary Club, a charitable society, is set up for automatic deposits without a password.
3. Lastly, if you would like a charitable tax receipt for amounts over $20, please include a note.

Generally, we have far more books than we can use. However, we do accept some children’s books. So, please inquire first.
